Prenuvo offers whole body MRI scans with no ionising radiation and no contrast dye. Its Australian clinic is in Toorak, Melbourne, and every booking needs a referral from a healthcare practitioner.
About Prenuvo
Prenuvo is a whole body MRI company that runs its own imaging clinics in North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. Its Australian clinic is at 505 Toorak Road in Toorak, Melbourne.
The Whole Body Scan covers the body from head to ankle, including the major organs, brain and spine, in about an hour. Because it is MRI, there is no ionising radiation, and Prenuvo does not use intravascular contrast dye. The company works with MRI manufacturers to configure its machines and writes its own acquisition protocols for whole body imaging.
Every Prenuvo report is interpreted by a registered radiologist, who adds context for you and your doctor. A healthcare professional then takes you through the results and any recommended follow-up, and you can share the report with your own practitioner.
Prenuvo is clear about the limits. A whole body MRI is not designed to replace other diagnostic tests, clinically recommended screening or regular visits to your health practitioner, and the scans do not include a detailed heart or breast assessment.
Why people book
For unexplained pains or symptoms, a Prenuvo scan can offer more information to discuss with your healthcare provider.
Family history can shape your personal health risks. The scan lets you and your practitioner look closely at the areas that concern you most.
Prenuvo's structured reports are designed for comparison over time, so a later scan can be read against your first.
Whatever the reason, a healthcare practitioner reviews every booking and decides whether the scan is appropriate for you.
Two scans
Neither scan is eligible for a Medicare rebate.

How referral works
Fill in the booking form on Prenuvo's Australian website.
Complete a safety questionnaire and meet a healthcare professional, who reviews your eligibility and refers you for the scan if it is appropriate.
Fast for at least four hours beforehand (water, tea and black coffee are fine) and arrive 30 minutes early.

A patient liaison greets you and makes sure your intake information is complete.
Change into scrubs in a private, lockable room and remove any metal objects.
Your MRI technologist walks you through the scan, and you can pick a show, a playlist or HealthTunes MusicMedicine to listen to.
The scanner is air-conditioned and you can talk to your technologist by two-way intercom the whole time. The Whole Body Scan takes just under an hour.
