Justin Vaughan is the founder and principal of Essentio Health in Sydney, where he leads a comprehensive, ultra-personalised health and wellbeing assessment and coaching service. Essentio is built around prevention and performance, integrating diet, exercise, sleep and mental health, underpinned by genetics and supported by leading-edge quantification technologies.
Justin began his career in medicine as an Emergency Department doctor, and represented New Zealand in international cricket, winning 6 Test and 18 ODI caps. He has since spent more than two decades in healthcare leadership on both sides of the Tasman. He was Integration Manager at MercyAscot Hospital in Auckland and a healthcare consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, before serving as chief executive of medical device company BrainZ Instruments and then chief executive of New Zealand Cricket. He went on to lead clinical operations at Southern Cross Healthcare, and spent almost seven years as Group Executive, Benefits and Provider Relations at nib Group. He has also served as acting chief executive of BioEye, a health technology company developing eye-tracking oculometrics for concussion, drug impairment and neurodegeneration.
