About
Raelene Clark B.Sc, M.Sc.Med (Orofacial Pain Specialty)
Clinical Coordinator – Perth Headache Network | PhD Researcher in Migraine Epigenetics | Specialty Practitioner in Complex Headache Disorders
Raelene is the Clinical Coordinator of the Perth Headache Network, a collaborative group of specialist clinics dedicated to improving the diagnosis and management of headache and migraine across Australia.
Her work reflects the priorities outlined by Migraine & Headache Australia, Strategic Action on Chronic Migraine, which highlights the urgent need for improved diagnosis, specialist training, and multidisciplinary care pathways for people living with chronic migraine.
With extensive clinical experience in headache disorders, Raelene understands that migraine and headache are highly complex and multifactorial neurological conditions. Effective care requires collaboration between multiple disciplines rather than relying on a single practitioner. The Perth Headache Network was established to bring together this expertise in a coordinated model of care.
The Perth Headache Network includes three complementary clinics:
• BIIO, a clinic specialising in invisible illnesses such as Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), hypermobility syndromes and ADHD—conditions in which headache and migraine are often a predominant feature.
• Nervesync Neurology, a specialist neurology practice with a strong focus on migraine and headache disorders.
• Medika Health Clinic, Western Australia’s first Vyepti infusion clinic and a GP Special Interest (GPSI) practice dedicated to migraine and headache care.
Together, these clinics provide a coordinated multidisciplinary approach that reflects emerging international models for specialist migraine care.
Alongside her clinical leadership, Raelene is a PhD candidate at Queensland University of Technology within the Centre for Pharmacogenomics and Personalised Medicine. Her doctoral research, “Epigenetics of Headache and Migraine,” explores how epigenetic mechanisms influence headache disorders and aims to develop more accurate diagnostic tools and personalised treatment approaches for headache and migraine.
By integrating clinical care with translational research, the Perth Headache Network represents one of Australia’s first coordinated Migraine Centre of Excellence models, combining specialist neurology, general practice with special interest in migraine, infusion therapies, and research-driven clinical practice.
Raelene and her colleagues provide consultations to patients across Australia and have developed referral networks in New South Wales and Victoria, allowing patients to access appropriate migraine care within their own state.
Her work focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy, expanding access to specialised migraine treatment, and translating emerging research into better clinical care for people living with headache and migraine.
