Dr Meg McKeown

Dr Meg McKeown
About
Seeing patients Tasmania-wide.
Dr Meg McKeown is a Specialist General Practitioner and Rural Generalist with more than 10 years' experience in general practice. Before medicine she worked as a veterinarian, and her medical career has included rural hospitals in Tasmania and Queensland and Antarctic service at Macquarie Island and Davis Station. She has completed the Tasmanian Health Service GP ADHD Training Program and RACGP-accredited ADHD training, is a full member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA), and is completing the RANZCP Certificate of Postgraduate Training in Clinical Psychiatry.
Dr McKeown has run a full-time ADHD practice since 2024. She provides ADHD assessment and care by video telehealth to adults, young people and children aged six and over anywhere in Tasmania. Her GP-led assessments, offered since 2025, run over three telehealth appointments, and suitable patients may not need a separate psychiatrist or paediatrician assessment. She also reviews existing diagnoses, reports and treatment, and provides ongoing medication management, including reviews that help a patient's regular GP renew a Tasmanian ADHD prescribing permit.
Dr McKeown's approach is collaborative and practical. As a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, she looks at how ADHD affects sleep, mood, stress, physical health and daily routines when planning care. She works closely with each patient's regular GP, psychologists and psychiatrists, and with a child's specialist services where needed. Each appointment request is checked for suitability before it is confirmed, and specialist referral is arranged when that is the better path.
