About

Anastasia Kioutsoukis is a registered psychologist and the founder of Remedium Psychology. Her work is grounded in the belief that meaningful psychological change begins when a person feels genuinely seen- not simply as a collection of symptoms, but as a whole human being shaped by their relationships, experiences, culture, body and inner world.

Anastasia offers a warm, thoughtful and deeply relational approach to therapy. She understands that many of the difficulties people bring to therapy- anxiety, depression, shame, perfectionism, emotional withdrawal, self-criticism or relationship patterns-often developed for understandable reasons. Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?”, her work gently explores, “What has happened to you, what have you needed to do to survive, and what parts of you may still be carrying that burden?”

Her approach is integrative and tailored to the individual. She draws upon Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic and Jungian-informed therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, attachment theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and DBT- and CBT-informed approaches. She also incorporates somatic and nervous-system-based perspectives, recognising that emotional experiences are held not only in our thoughts, but also within the body.

Anastasia has a particular interest in working with complex trauma, shame, self-worth, identity, grief, chronic illness, relationship difficulties and the emotional consequences of growing up within complicated family systems. She supports people who may understand their patterns intellectually but still feel unable to change them; people who appear capable and resilient on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or deeply self-critical.

A central part of Anastasia’s work involves helping clients understand the different “parts” of themselves. These may include the perfectionistic part that fears failure, the people-pleasing part that avoids conflict, the angry part that protects against vulnerability, or the withdrawn part that has learned not to need anyone. Therapy creates space to approach these parts with curiosity and compassion, allowing clients to understand what they have been protecting and to develop a more secure, accepting relationship with themselves.

Her clinical experience includes supporting adults, adolescents, couples and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, interpersonal difficulties, life transitions, neurodivergence, chronic health conditions and disability. She has a particular interest in the psychological impact of autoimmune and chronic illnesses, including Multiple Sclerosis, persistent pain, fatigue and changes to identity or independence. Anastasia understands that living with illness can involve forms of grief that are often invisible to others-the loss of a former sense of self, uncertainty about the future, changes in relationships, and the emotional exhaustion of continually having to explain one’s experience.

In her work with couples and families, Anastasia focuses on the emotional patterns beneath conflict. She helps people move beyond blame and defensiveness to understand the fears, unmet needs and attachment wounds influencing their interactions. Her approach supports clearer communication, emotional safety, accountability and the gradual rebuilding of trust and connection.

Anastasia’s Greek heritage has also shaped her appreciation for the powerful influence of culture, family loyalty, migration, identity and intergenerational expectations. She approaches each client’s cultural and personal background with respect and curiosity, recognising that healing cannot be separated from the wider systems and relationships in which a person has lived.

Clients often come to Anastasia when they are tired of feeling as though they must perform wellness, minimise their pain or manage everything alone. Her aim is to offer a therapeutic relationship in which clients do not have to hide the complicated, contradictory or less acceptable parts of themselves. She brings warmth, honesty, depth and gentle challenge to her sessions, balancing emotional exploration with practical strategies that can be carried into everyday life.

For Anastasia, therapy is not about becoming a different person. It is about understanding the person you have needed to become, reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have been silenced or left behind, and developing greater freedom in how you relate to yourself, to others and to the life you wish to create.

Anastasia provides psychological therapy through Remedium Psychology in Melbourne, with in-person appointments available in Northcote and Pascoe Vale, as well as telehealth sessions. She works with private clients and individuals accessing support through Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plans, NDIS, TAC, WorkCover and EAP pathways
