About
Paul R. Martin is an Adjunct Professor at Monash University and at Griffith University. Academic leadership positions that he has held include Director of the Research School of Psychology at The Australian National University, Head of the School of Applied Psychology at Griffith University, Head of the School of Psychology at the University of New England, and a combined position as Director of Training in Clinical Psychology at Monash University and Director of Psychology for Southern Health (now Monash Health). He is a practising clinical and health psychologist. He has held a number of professional leadership positions including National President of the Australian Behaviour Modification Association, Director of Science and then President of the APS, and President of the 27th International Congress of Applied Psychology. His main research interest has been headache and migraine, with subsidiary interests in depression, anxiety, stress, and social support. He has authored/edited eight books and 170 journal articles and chapters. His research program has received extensive funding including 12 Project Grants from NHMRC, and grants from beyondblue and the Austrian Science Fund. He has received two Australian Honours, a Centenary Medal “For service to Australian society and medicine”, and a Medal of the Order of Australia “For service to medicine in the field of psychology”.
